Rap Chart Movement: T.I.'s Reign Continues, Ace Hood Grabs Second Place

T.I.'s Paper Trail remains at the top of the Billboard's 'Top Rap Albums Chart' by pushing 50,500 units this week. After 9 weeks on the charts, Paper Trail has sold a total of 1,229,000 copies.

Miami rapper Ace Hood enters the chart at No. 2 with his debut album Gutta.

The set, which features appearances from Trick Daddy, Plies and Rick Ross, scanned 24,700 copies in its opening week.

Lil Wayne holds fort No. 3. Tha Carter III moved 22,800 CDs this week. So far, the album has sold a total of 2,694,600 copies.

Debuting at No. 4 is Houston rapper South Park Mexican with his latest effort Last Chair Violinist. The album cashed out 15,300 CDs in its first spin on the charts.

Seated at No. 5 is Young Jeezy. The Recession moved 14,400 units this week, pushing its total to 629,200.

The Game stays put at No. 6. L.A.X. bagged up 29,600 units in its 14th week on the chart. So far, the album has sold a total of 580,900 copies.

Posted at No. 7 is Q-Tip. The Renaissance shelved off 8,900 discs this week. So far, the set has sold 58,000 copies.

Rap/Reggaton duo Wisin Y Yandel slip two spots to No. 8. La Ment cashed out 7,800 copies this week, bringing the album's total sales to 18,900.

Shawty Lo and Grand Hustle members broke into a fight at Dirty Awards, after which the ceremony was prematurely closed. Fighting began during songs Dey Know. In order to stop that fight, officers had to use tear gas. T.I. was in the building too, but he did not participate in the dismantling. Later, he performed Ain't I (Remix), and then a new fight was started again. Alfamega, threw a chair at someone, so he got arrested.

Wyclef Jean Mansion Foreclosed and Up for Sale

Former Fugees member Wyclef Jean is at the center of a new situation concerning his recently foreclosed Miami Beach mansion.
The Palm Beach Post reports that Jean took out a $2 million mortgage from Home Equity Mortgage Corp. in 2004 to purchase the estate through a corporation he owns with several friends. >> Read more..


Although the rapper/producer set out to renovate the canal-front property, the foreclosed home, which was appraised at $1.4 million, was left unfinished for more than two years as a series of construction liens were filed.

In addition, the property garnered $6,200 in fines from the city of Miami Beach once the $900,000 construction project halted after Jean and his partners couldn’t come up with the $177,913 in construction costs needed to finish the effort.

Court documents note that a lien was put on the property this year by the project’s architects, who have tried to collect $75,000 owed to them since 2004.

In all, Jean’s corporation now owes the bank $2.4 million.

As a result of the foreclosure, Miami-Dade county will sell the mansion in downtown Miami on December 12.

Court records also show that Jean has not paid employees who worked on the home. The entertainer has yet to comment on the situation.
